Baptisms are an essential part of Christian discipleship. They are an outward profession of the inward change that has taken place since becoming a Christian. Our Baptism nights are a celebration of God's redemptive power, and include worship and a message, as well as testimonies from the people being baptised. If you'd like to be baptised, please speak to your congregational pastor. This is a great event to invite unsaved friends and family along to, especially if you are being baptised yourself.
Andy and Gina spent a number of years travelling and preaching the gospel in Africa, America and Europe before planting Family Church in October 1997. Andy is a very popular speaker at churches and Christian conferences both in the UK and throughout the world. His preaching is humorous and impacting and he is gifted as an evangelist. Andy and Gina carry a real love for the church and lead with lots of passion and a huge vision. With five children, Andy and Gina are really good at leading big families – like Family Church!
Steuart and Carla oversee the general operations of Family Church, working with the Core Leaders to provide great leadership in all congregations. They also serve as Congregational Pastors of the Portsmouth Central congregation, currently with an average of 400 to 500 people in attendance. Steuart and Carla began their journey with Family Church when the church was less than a year old and have been involved in most areas of church life in one way or another over the years! Steuart and Carla met and married since joining Family Church and now have two young boys.
Geoff and Jane joined their family and their lives with Family Church at the tail end of 2004, when they made the decision to close their existing church in Gosport and start a new congregation in 2005 under the banner of Family Church. Today that congregation is thriving, making an impact in the town of Gosport and beyond, having also embraced another church in the Bridgemary part of Gosport and relaunched it as a Family Church congregation. Geoff and Jane head up the Gosport and Bridgemary congregations and are part of the senior leadership team of Family Church. Geoff and Jane have six children, and one grandchild, who all love God and love being part of His church!
Steve and Kirsty joined Family Church in 2005. They married in February 2007 and soon after joined the leadership team of Family Church. After overseeing the Students and Young Adults Ministry for a while, they then planted the Havant Congregation of Family Church in 2009. Steve and Kirsty are passionate about building the local church and seeing people discover their God-given purpose. They have two beautiful daughters, Gracie and Evie.
Paul and Wendy became congregational pastors of Waterside when it was launched in March 2011. They were previously both part of the leadership of another church in Hythe, alongside Tim and Danni Lockwood, our Guildford pastors. Both come from a teaching background, Wendy still continues to teach at a local secondary school. They have two teen-aged children.
Matt and Victoria have been in Family Church for many years and married in 2007. After completing Emerging Leaders training they were appointed as Assistant Pastors to Steuart and Carla in Portsmouth Central. In 2013 they, along with their family, moved to lead Portsmouth North congregation.
Tim and Danni have been involved in ministry for many years. They met through Christian Youth projects and were married in 1998. Despite Tim’s desire to become a police officer, which he achieved in 2001, he felt that God was calling him into ministry. After pastoring a local church for several years, Tim and Danni felt that God was relocating them and, in 2011, they became the Senior Pastors of Eternity Church in Guildford, taking over from the founding pastors. Eternity Church became part of Family Church in January 2014. Tim and Danni are passionate about seeing Guildford transformed by the power of God working through his church. They also have two amazing children, Acacia and Joseph.
Mark and Sarah took on the role of Young Adult and Student Pastors in September 2009, having been Youth Pastors for a number of years. They oversee everything we do in Portsmouth with young adults and students. They desire to impact the thousands of students in the University of Portsmouth (as well as the local Colleges) who are just starting out in life, unaware of the greater purpose and hope that only comes from a relationship with God! Within the church there are many young adults and students who have incredible potential and their aim is to unlock the God-given potential within every one of them!
Charlie was part of the leadership of Eternity Church when it became part of Family Church in January 2014. Charlie works part-time for a consortium of Higher Education Institutions in supporting its research and innovation strategy. Currently, Charlie heads up Est.1825 Guildford, which is the Students and Young Adults sub-congregation, as well as supporting Pastors Tim and Danni as the Assistant Pastor of Family Church Guildford.
