Family Church’s kids’ programme, all*stars, is fronted by ‘Rovercomer’, a large, furry friend who comes to tell of his walk with God and of how he overcomes tests and trials with help from Jesus.

Each week, Rovercomer’s story is reinforced by powerful DVDs, puppet skits and teaching. There’s a clear and practical message, solidly backed up by a weekly memory verse. If the kids seem super-keen to learn this, it’s not only because they want the Word of God firmly planted in their hearts, but also because they can earn Kids’ Quids to spend in the monthly Kid’s Church shop! Add to this the prospect of rewards for attending, bringing a Bible or friends and we’re away.

Deputy Dougan, a jovial sheriff, enjoys welcoming the kids by sharing his own interpretation of the memory verse and rules. The Greene Family of puppets tell us about their Christian walk. We learn a lot from young Oogene, who often needs help in applying what he’s learned in church. Add in a very visual illustrated sermon, a couple of well produced DVDs, some crazy team games, a touch of praise and worship, a dedicated, effective team of workers and you have a recipe for a successful kid’s church!

All*stars encompasses all the children within the primary school age group, but we have not forgotten our wonderful pre-schoolers!

Little Stars have an effective curriculum. It’s fast paced, brightly coloured and called Lil K. Little Stars learn simple truths about themselves and God. They focus on one Bible verse over four to five weeks, with actions to help them remember it.

Each week the Little Stars not only have their own praise time but also have fun producing a craft to consolidate their learning. In addition they bring home a well-produced Map Book, comprising activities and information about what they’ve learned. This means that parents or carers can chat about the message during the week. It’s great to see the youngest members of Kid’s Church bouncing out, ready to put into action what they’ve learned!
