Andy & Gina Elmes – Senior Pastors (and Elders)

Andy and Gina spent a number of years travelling and preaching the gospel in Africa, America and Europe before planting Family Church in October 1997. Andy is a very popular speaker at churches and Christian conferences both in the UK and throughout the world. His preaching is humorous and impacting and he is gifted as an evangelist. Andy and Gina carry a real love for the church and lead with lots of passion and a huge vision. With five children, Andy and Gina are really good at leading big families – like Family Church!

Wayne & Nicky Keeping – Elders

Wayne and Nicky have lived and worked in Portsmouth for years and co-founded Family Church with Andy & Gina, with a desire to build a great church in the city with three main emphases: passionate worship, inspirational word, impacting kids’ ministry. Wayne and Nicky are part of the senior leadership team (the Elders) of Family Church, spearheading an ever growing team of leaders who are passionate to make an impact in the region by building a large ‘outward looking’ church with numerous congregations. Wayne and Nicky have three children.

Steuart & Carla Payne – Executive Pastors (and Elders)

Steuart and Carla oversee the general operations of Family Church, working with the Core Leaders to provide great leadership in all congregations. They also serve as Congregational Pastors of the Portsmouth congregation which has two services on Sunday mornings, currently with an average of 500 to 600 people in attendance. Steuart and Carla began their journey with Family Church when the church was less than a year old and have been involved in most areas of church life in one way or another over the years! Steuart and Carla met and married since joining Family Church and now have two young boys.

Geoff & Jane Wood – Congregational Pastors, Gosport (and Elders)

Geoff and Jane joined their family and their lives with Family Church at the tail end of 2004 when they made the decision to close their existing church in Gosport and start a new congregation under the banner of Family Church. In January 2005 the Gosport congregation was planted and is today thriving, making an impact in the town of Gosport and beyond. Geoff and Jane head up the Gosport congregation and are part of the senior leadership team of Family Church. Geoff and Jane have six children who all love God and love being part of His church!

Steven & Kirsty Carey – Congregational Pastors, Havant

Steven and Kirsty moved to Family Church in 2005 having been heavily involved in the local Salvation Army citadel. They married in February 2007 and soon after pioneered our ‘Cornerstone’ congregation which was started in September 2007 and is now led by Pastors Dave and Sue Bickel. Steven and Kirsty, with their beautiful baby girl Gracie, are now pioneering our Havant congregation which has been running since January 2009. They are passionate about building the local church and seeing people discover their God-given purpose.

John & Joy Hargreaves – Life Group Pastors

John and Joy Hargreaves oversee the Life Groups in Family Church. Our vision is to make in impact in our region by being a large church with multiple congregations and amazing small groups. Life Groups are small groups of Family Church people who meet together in each others’ homes each week in order to build friendships, grow closer to God and enjoy a good time together. John and Joy are a friendly and caring couple, living and breathing the heart and culture of Family Church in all they do.

Aaron & Beth Carr – Youth Pastors

Aaron and Beth took on the role of ‘Youth Pastors’ from Mark and Sarah Carter in September 2009. They now lead Momentum, our youth programme, which caters for teenagers from 13 to 17 years old. Momentum is both an event that happens on a Friday night, where the teenagers come together to give God radical praise and worship and to be inspired to live big for God; and it’s a revolution where young people are making a stand to live for Jesus despite the pressure from the world around them. Aaron and Beth, with the Momentum team, are reaching teenagers through radical events and raising up young men and women of God through impacting discipleship.

Mark & Sarah Carter – Young Adult & Student Pastors

From September 2009 Mark and Sarah took on the role of Young Adult & Student Pastors, overseeing everything we do with young adults and students. We desire to impact the thousands of students in the University of Portsmouth (as well as the local Colleges) who are just starting out in life, unaware of the greater purpose and hope that only comes from a relationship with God! Within the church there are many young adults and students who have incredible potential and our aim is to unlock the God-given potential within every one of them! Pulse is one of our events for young adults that runs on Friday nights, equipping and inspiring young men and women to live significant lives for their Saviour!

Matt & Ali Lockwood – Worship Pastors

Although only having moved to Family Church in 2005, Matt & Ali have been involved with Hearts of Fire for Jesus since before Family Church was started, having led worship and kid’s church meetings at the Hearts on Fire Camp Meetings and Youth Camps. Matt is a worship leader with many years experience of working in small and large churches. He is a freelance Graphic Designer, and oversees all of the media and design for Family Church. Ali is an Assistant Head Teacher, and they have two young boys. Together Matt & Ali lead a vibrant, creative team of musicians and singers with the vision of carrying God’s presence to His people, and carrying God’s people into His presence.
